Stan Yombo
Stanislas Bakabila Yombo known as “Yombo” is a Congolese-American Hospitality professional , Entrepreneur , Activist and Media producer.
Born in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo(Formerly Zaire), Yombo came in the United States of America to run away from a Dictatorship Country brutally ran by than president Mobutu Sese Seko.
Few years prior to his departure from his native country, He held several demonstrations and meetings with his friends and fellow students from the Top Architecture and Construction University (IBTP-Institut des Batiments et Travaux Publique) to help topple down Mr. Mobutu’s Dictatorial Regime. But those ambitions brought him more sorrows than solutions with the security force of the Republic loyal to Mr. Mobutu. Due to those demonstrations, Academic Years were cut short and Unfinished. To achieve his academic goals, he enrolled to a private Computer Science school and graduated as a Computer Programmer in Business Administration.
His Frank speech and fearless attitude brought a lot admiration from friends and political personalities especially the Opposition party to Mobutu called UDPS (Union pour la Democratie and le Progres Social). Avoiding to see him hurt or killed, his parents decided to send him abroad. Instead of choosing one of European countries as usually chosen by most Congolese Parents for his refuge, He insisted to be sent to the Land of Free the United States of America.
Once in the United States, He realized that the average American did not know about African Countries or Just about the African Continent. Africa was synonymous to Jungle, Wild animals, diseases and starvations. He also noticed that Congolese living in the U.S. did not have a source of information or news of their homeland. He decided to create a News letter “Yombo Times“ back in 1995. After Kabila took power, he created a website called deboutcongolais.com(Congolese Arise) in 1998. He then created Congonewschannel.net and later broadened his viewer by creating CNCnws.com for more news and entertainment.
